Located along the northern boundary of the 23,000 acre Elephant Mountain Wildlife Management Area, the 9222 acre Calamity Creek Ranch features volcanic mountain grasslands to the west Chalk Draw, Christmas Canyon and Del Norte Mountains to the east. Habitat types include desert scrub, desert grassland, riparian zones, Juniper-Pinon-Oak Woodlands to deciduous canyon woodlands. Wildlife in the area consists of elk, desert mule deer, pronghorn antelope, scaled quail and abundant white wing dove.

Elk Draw offers 3,100+/- acres with expansive views of mountains in all directions. The ranch gives numerous possibilities to its next owner. About 500 acres are on the westside of Calamity Creek and is easily accessed from Highway 118. There are excellent sites for a lodge home in this area. The balance of the ranch is on the east side of the creek with more rugged terrain and holds a ton of game. A great deal of evidence of elk and mule deer can be seen throughout the ranch in many forms.

With two miles of frontage on HWY 118 at an elevation of 4,100 ft, the Mesa View Ranch is located just 30 minutes south of Alpine and 40 minutes north of Big Bend National Park.
